Dysautonomia is a medical term used to describe a group of complex conditions that are cause by a dysregulation of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). These conditions can range from relatively benign to somewhat disabling to very devastating. The ANS regulates all unconscious functions of our body including our cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and endocrine system. Symptoms may include: Tachycardia, bradycardia (extremes in heart rate), dangerously low blood pressure, orthostatic intolerance (the inability to remain in the upright position), excessive fatigue, exercise intolerance, body temperature regulation issues, severe dizziness, fainting/near fainting and more. Symptoms may come and go, appear in any combination, and range in severity.
